Man knifes woman to death in front of child

A jealous man who stabbed a woman to death in front of a six-year-old girl after she turned down his advances is facing a life sentence.
Lloyd Byfield, 48, used a claw hammer to smash his way into the home of 26-year-old Leighann Duffy before knifing her repeatedly in the arms and neck.
The ‘despicable’ attack at her home in Hatherley Road, Walthamstow, East London, on September 1 last year was witnessed by a six-year-old child.
Witnesses saw Ms Duffy stagger out of her home bleeding heavily shouting ‘help me, help me’ as the killer fled the scene.
She died of her injuries in hospital two days later.
Detectives said Byfield was ‘motivated by jealousy’ after previously seeking a relationship with Ms Duffy.
The case will be opened fully at the sentencing hearing on 10 April…
