49 million Nigerians are unemployed

The Executive Secretary of the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), Dr Mas’udu Adamu Kazaure, on Tuesday, said a total of 49 million Nigerians, most of them young people, are unemployed.

Kazaure was the keynote speaker at the opening ceremony of the four-day workshop organised by the Board at the Yaba College of Technology (YABATECH), on the theme: “Engendering Entrepreneurial Mindset in Nigeria’s Tertiary Institutions.”
Listing his sources to include the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) and the National Committee on Job Creation, Kazaure, who was represented by the Director of Planning, Research and Statistics at NBTE, Mr Ekpeyong Ekpeyong, also noted that the key to the country’s future laid in technical and vocational training.
