An angry Florida woman cut her boyfriend’s belly after he refused to have sex with her, investigating Volusia County sheriff’s deputies said.
Yanilca Ortiz-Burgos, 37, attacked her boyfriend, Jose Vega-Hernandez, 46, with a knife in the presence of three children ages, 9, 10 and 17, an arrest report shows.
Ortiz-Burgos
was arrested and charged with aggravated battery on a person with a deadly
weapon and child abuse. She was released on her own recognizance under the supervision
of the court’s pretrial release program.
Vega-Hernandez
said in a telephone interview Monday that he is not pressing charges on
Ortiz-Burgos and is more hopeful that she will get help.
“Supposedly
she came to my room because she wanted to be intimate,” Vega-Hernandez said.
But then he felt a punch, and then an argument started.
Deputies
were called to a home at Antilles Drive at 6:12 a.m. Saturday where
Ortiz-Burgos and Vega-Hernandez were involved in a fight, reports said.
The
couple were located outside the home. Vega-Hernandez had a superficial cut to
the belly and Ortiz-Burgos was bleeding from her right hand. A 17-year-old boy
was trying to break up the fight, deputies said.
Vega-Hernandez
said he ran from the Antilles Terrace home after Ortiz-Burgos attacked him
because he refused to have sex with her. He said Ortiz-Burgos walked into his
bedroom Saturday morning after consuming alcohol all night and wanted to have
sex, a report shows.
