Residents arrest Boko Haram suspect in Lagos

Residents of Ijora community, in Lagos, have arrested a man, identified as Abdullahi Adamu, suspected to be a member of the terrorist group, Boko Haram.

The suspect was caught within the early hours of last Friday and taken to the palace of the paramount ruler, Oba Fatai Aromire Ojora, before being handed over to the police.

An eyewitness, who resides in the community, Ahmed Hamanbade, said the suspect had made some suspicious moves, which attracted the watching eyes of some people in the community. “This morning, when I was in my shop, I was called upon that a Boko Haram suspect was in our midst, because everyone in the community had been duly notified that when we see any strange face, we should always question the person. We caught him and learnt that he had escaped from Mubi to Lagos.”

Sunday Sun spoke with the traditional ruler, Oba Aromire Ojora, who expressed worry over security lapses in the community.

His words: “We have been calling on the state government to do something about this. This is the second time we will arrest Boko Haram suspects in this community and nothing has been done on that. This one we caught even admitted that he is a terrorist. You know that majority of the northerners in Lagos live in Ijora, Agege and Badia.”

The suspect is presently in the police net.
