The National Agency for Drugs
Administration and Control, Dr. Paul Orhii, has stressed the importance
of roots and herbs in curative medicine.
A number of such herbal-based drugs with proven efficacy, Orhii said, had passed agency’s tests.
Orhii stated this at the inauguration of VitaTree Nutritionals, a range of herbal-based products on Friday in Lagos.
Orhii said, “The amazing findings on the
efficacy of herbs are noteworthy. We now have herbs grow on graves of
people who died of ailments such herbs could have cured. I commend the
VitaTree Nutritionals team on the wonderful job and research they have
undertaken on their products. I hereby declare that all the firm’s
products have passed NAFDAC tests as well as received its approval.’’
According to the firm’s President, Mr. Rockson Ogor, their products do not contain chemicals.
The products, he said, had the ability to detoxify the internal organs and relieve the symptoms of toxicity in the human body.
He noted that natural supplements made
from fruits and leaves have the potential to minimise the effect of
diseases caused by free radicals, poor diet and compromised immunity.
Ogor said, “We have come from nowhere to
be where we are today. You can fool people once, but not twice. Our
products are vegetarian capsules, which have no synthetic vitamins,
minerals, fillers or preservatives.”
The Vice-President, Nutrition Society of
Nigeria, Dr. Bartholomew Brai, who noted that more Nigerians were
becoming more health-conscious, urged them to further explore the use of
fruits and other natural foods as medicines.
Brai said, “It is heart warming that
Nigerians are now more conscious of their health and the drugs they use.
More importantly, more research now show the usefulness of fruits and
natural foods as medicines for healthy living.”
